It takes 3 minutes and 45 seconds to go from the res shrine to the entrance of Ice Dwarf Kingdom on a Mount. You have to cover 3/4th of the entire length of the map. That doesn’t include repairing at a merchant, loading screens, getting on your mount, or pausing at any point. It doesn’t include your guild mates making the same run back, taking a different longer route, taking the opportunity to use the washroom or get a drink, or taking a moment to cry a river of tears. It also does not include the few minutes to return to the point inside the dungeon where you died. It can add up to at least 10 minutes.
From the res shrine at Cyclops Lair, it takes 15 seconds to return to the entrance.
When you wipe in Hall of Survivors, you’re transported to the Vicinity of Green Tower in Savage Lands. There are at least 3 closer res shrines, but one res shrine in Savage lands only takes 90 seconds, 85 seconds from a shrine in Silverspring, as opposed to the 200 from the assigned one. It’s just way too long.
What is an appropriate length of time to return to a dungeon after a wipe? I’m not sure. I know IDK, HotO, and HoS are ridiculous. You run right by closer res shrines on the way back. There are alternative places to repair for all of these dungeons. I also know Kalins Shrine is at the limit of my patience at 80 seconds.
I don’t think it’s an appropriate punishment. Runes of Magic already has a healthy death penalty. Why then, are we forced on such a humiliating march back to the dungeon? This I know. Transport Runes. It’s an outright greedy grab to get you to spend real money on transport methods. I can’t imagine running back to these places without a mount. On average I’d be using 3 transport runes a day to get back to these dungeons if I was planning on spending money on them.
Transport Runes are cheap, but I already spend a great deal of money to participate in the end game. Modding up gear is incredibly expensive. I can’t afford to throw away money on Transport Runes and Marking Ink. It’s disturbing that they adjust the way the game was designed so they can get more money out of me. I should not have to run by closer res shrines, ever.
The kicker? A dungeon Resets after 5 minutes.

Kalin’s Shrine: 1 minute 20 seconds.
Mystic Altar: 3 minutes, 30 seconds.
Necropolis of Mirrors: 50 seconds
Origin: 2 minutes 30 seconds.
Forsaken Abbey: 65 seconds.
Treasure Trove: 1 minute 30 seconds.
Heart of the Ocean: 1 minute 45 seconds.
Hall of Survivors: 3 minutes 20 seconds.
Cyclops Lair: 15 seconds.
